Preston Manor

Yesterday I visited Preston Manor. It is really really beautiful. The people working there have so much knowledge of the place that it made the visit so much more interesting. I was most intrigued by the basement area where there were the kitchens, washing area and butler's room with all the tools and equipment. In one of the kitchens there is also a beautiful embroidery by an eight year old. I also liked the paintings of the pet dogs. Outside in the garden area we found a long row of dog graves. I must revisit with my sketchbook but I was also told that it is a haunted house...

what a great outing! i went to Preston Manor for a school trip when i was in year 4. we all dressed like victorian servants and learnt how to make pastry and lemonade and how to lay the table and fold the napkins into water lillies. i still remember how to do that. x

Great! I'm glad you had a good time. I'd totally forgot about the visit until now.
